About This Role
Mercor is recruiting experienced Transactional or Regulatory Associates to support an AI lab building a benchmark for evaluating AI systems on real-world legal research tasks. You will draft realistic research questions that reflect issues arising in transactional and regulatory practice, grounded in statutory and regulatory interpretation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft practitioner-level research questions arising in:
- Corporate transactions - Securities regulation - Administrative law - Compliance and regulatory frameworks
  • Incorporate jurisdiction-specific statutory or regulatory interpretation
  • Frame issues that require synthesis of:
- Statutory text - Agency guidance - Case law - Legislative history (where appropriate)
  • Ensure questions resemble real client matters, not academic hypotheticals

Requirements

  • 4–7+ years of law firm experience in transactional or regulatory practice
  • Strong background in statutory and regulatory interpretation
  • Experience researching federal and/or state regulatory frameworks
  • Ability to clearly scope legal issues for research

Nice to Have

  • Experience interacting with regulatory agencies
  • Background in highly regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, energy, etc.)
  • Prior work in legal tech or AI-related initiatives
